Swiggy Unveils ‘Learning Station’ to Support Partner Restaurants in Business Expansion

Swiggy has introduced a new learning academy with the goal of assisting partner restaurants in enhancing their online presence, selecting effective advertising campaigns, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. The Learning Station is open to all 300,000 restaurant partners associated with the startup.

In July, Swiggy unveiled the Network Expansion Insights dashboard, designed to aid restaurant partners in strategizing their expansion on the platform. This launch closely followed a similar initiative by Swiggy’s competitor, Zomato.

The Indian food delivery market is primarily dominated by a duopoly consisting of Zomato and Swiggy. In the current funding environment, with a focus on profitability, both Zomato and Swiggy are working towards achieving sustainable financial outcomes. Zomato reported its first profitable quarter in Q1 FY24, while Swiggy announced profitability in its food delivery business as of March 2023.

To bolster its revenue, Swiggy has implemented a platform fee of INR 2 per food delivery order, a move subsequently emulated by Zomato.

In the fiscal year 2022, Swiggy experienced a significant increase in net loss, more than doubling to INR 3,629 Cr, but also saw a surge in operating revenue by 124% to INR 5,704.9 Cr.

Despite the financial challenges, Swiggy is reportedly gearing up for its initial public offering (IPO) and is aiming for a public listing in the coming year.
