# eSign FAQ - Electronic Signature for Loan Agreements

> eSign is an Aadhaar-based digital signature mechanism that allows borrowers to sign loan agreements electronically without printing or physically signing documents. Indifi uses eSign to complete the loan sanction process entirely online.

## What is eSign?

eSign is a legally valid electronic signature service provided under the Information Technology Act, 2000. It uses the Aadhaar OTP or biometric authentication to verify the signatory's identity and attach a digital signature to the loan document.

## Legal Validity

eSign is legally equivalent to a physical signature under:
- Information Technology Act, 2000
- IT (Amendment) Act, 2008
- Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) guidelines

## How eSign Works at Indifi

1. Loan is approved and loan agreement is generated
2. Borrower receives an eSign request on registered mobile/email
3. Borrower enters Aadhaar number and authenticates via OTP sent to Aadhaar-linked mobile
4. Digital signature is applied to the loan agreement
5. Signed agreement is stored digitally and shared with the borrower

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Is eSign mandatory?**
Yes. eSign is the standard method for completing the loan agreement digitally. It replaces physical signatures.

**Is my Aadhaar data stored by Indifi?**
No. Aadhaar authentication is processed through UIDAI's official authentication infrastructure. Indifi does not store Aadhaar numbers or biometric data.

**What if I don't have an Aadhaar-linked mobile number?**
Contact Indifi support to explore alternative document signing methods.

**Is the eSign process secure?**
Yes. The process uses UIDAI's authentication API with one-time passwords and is processed through a licensed Certifying Authority.

**Can I get a copy of the signed agreement?**
Yes. A digitally signed copy of the loan agreement is provided to the borrower after completion.

**What happens if eSign fails?**
